Can someone tell me how to fulfill Task 2 - "Water one plant in any room"? Watering in the garden doesn't do it and you can't water inside. I tried everything I can think of.

You have to put a plant in one of your rooms and water it. Below is a picture of some coin flowers you can get for this. They can be found in the furniture mart under florist. I showed you what they look like before and after they have been watered.
